From Simon Phipps' new series of five works centred on the staircase as sculptural object. Phipps has spent over 25 years photographing Britain's post-war modernist architecture, finding form, atmosphere and quiet drama in buildings most people pass without seeing. Trained as a sculptor, with a background in film, he brings a particular understanding of light, sequence and material to every image he makes.
