For pilots new to radio-controlled flight, the Carbon Cub S 2 stands out as one of the most capable, forgiving, and versatile scale RC airplanes ever created. Inspired by the full-scale Carbon Cub from Cub Crafters—a modern evolution of the legendary Super Cub—this model combines classic bush-plane styling with cutting-edge flight technology to make learning to fly approachable and enjoyable for almost anyone.
Built around a rugged yet lightweight EPO airframe, the Carbon Cub S 2 comes factory-equipped with a powerful brushless motor, telemetry-enabled electronic speed controller, integrated flight controller, receiver, and servos. Horizon Hobby’s exclusive SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology actively helps prevent overcontrol, disorientation, and crashes, giving new pilots confidence from their very first flight.
Large tundra-style tires, taildragger landing gear, and a steerable tailwheel allow takeoffs and landings from pavement, grass, dirt, and gravel. For even greater flexibility, optional floats (sold separately) can be installed to enable water operations. Pilots can also upgrade to SAFE Plus® GPS-assisted technology, unlocking advanced features such as AutoLand, Virtual Fence, and Holding Pattern, while the optional Landing Assist Sensor (LAS) provides automatic flare for smoother landings.
The Carbon Cub S 2 grows with you as your skills improve. Multiple flight modes—Beginner, Intermediate, and Experienced—let you choose your comfort level instantly, while Panic Recovery can return the aircraft to stable flight at the press of a button. In Experienced Mode, the aircraft is capable of aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, and inverted flight.
The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes nearly everything required to fly, excluding only the battery and charger, allowing pilots to choose the setup that best fits their needs. The included Spektrum™ DXS DSMX® transmitter can later be used with other Bind-N-Fly® aircraft, making it an excellent long-term investment. Assembly is quick, tool-free, and glue-free, so you can spend more time flying and less time building.
