The Lost World of the Torah: Law as Covenant and Wisdom in Ancient ContextOur handling of what we call biblical law veers between controversy and neglect. On the one hand, controversy arises when Old Testament laws seem either odd beyond comprehension (not eating lobster) or positively reprehensible (executing children). On the other, neglect results when we consider the law obsolete, no longer carrying any normative power (tassels on clothing, making sacrifices). Even readers who do attempt to make use of the Old Testament

Our handling of what we call biblical law veers between controversy and neglect. On the one hand, controversy arises when Old Testament laws seem either odd beyond comprehension (not eating lobster) or positively reprehensible (executing children). On the other, neglect results when we consider the law obsolete, no longer carrying any normative power (tassels on clothing, making sacrifices). Even readers who do attempt to make use of the Old Testament "law" often find it either irrelevant, hopelessly laden with "thou shalt nots," or simply so confusing that they throw up their hands in despair. Despite these extremes, people continue to propose moral principles from these laws as "the biblical view" and to garner proof texts to resolve issues that arise in society. The result is that both Christians and skeptics regularly abuse the Torah, and its true message often lies unheard. Walton and Walton offer in The Lost World of the Torah a restorative vision of the ancient genre of instruction for wisdom that makes up a significant portion of the Old Testament. In the ancient Near East, order was achieved through the wisdom of those who governed society. The objective of torah was to teach the Israelites to be wise about the kind of order needed to receive the blessings of God's favor and presence within the context of the covenant. Here readers will find fresh insight on this fundamental genre of the Old Testament canon.

Great Product for Hard Water
Style: Shampoo
We have hard water and just after a week of using this I can already tell a difference, not only that but I've been using it on my upper arms, shoulders and neck and my keratosis pilaris is clearing up and my skin is smooth. Great product, happy I found it.

Not bad... but not great either.
Style: Shampoo
Let me make one thing perfectly clear at the get go: I am spoiled when it comes to shampoo & conditioners. My wife has super fine hair so she buys the expensive Biolage stuff and I use it too because I only need a tiny little dollop for my hair. So I know how my hair feels after pricey shampoo and this.. well.. this isn't it. Mind you, it's not bad. If I wasn't so used to to Biolage, I'm sure this would feel fine. However, this definitely made my hair feel like I had just washed with something like Salon Selectives. It just felt different. Maybe it's the aloe in there but my hair just didn't feel as nice as usual when I tried it. So, if you're used to low-to-mid range store bought shampoos, you might like this a lot. Jeez that sounds pretentious! LOL, sorry! Again, it's not like my hair fell out or anything weird, but I've had the good stuff and I'll stick with the good stuff. I'm still giving this 4 stars out of fairness for a perfectly fine shampoo. It still lathered up nicely and my hair was perfectly clean, but just don't expect a high-end feel.
