Description
Wild Silk Scarf – Matka & Bulkul Tassar Silk – Handspun Handwoven – 70 × 200 cmA luxurious blend of Matka silk and Bulkul Tassar silk, these are handwoven scarves with a rustic texture, and a natural drape. The warp is made from millspun Matka silk, while the weft is handspun Bulkul Tassar silk. Bulkul Tassar is made from the peduncles of Antheraea paphia tassar cocoons. Unlike cultivated mulberry silk, tassar silk comes from wild silk moths whose cocoons produce naturally varied shades of cream, gold, brown, and nut tones.

Because the yarn is spun rather than reeled, the fabric has a soft, wool-like character with beautiful slubs, flowing color variation, and tactile depth. Each scarf is unique, with subtle differences in shade and texture.
These scarves are woven by my trusted artisan team in India, where more than half of the spinners and warp-setters are women. Each piece reflects skilled handwork, textile tradition, and a more sustainable approach to silk production.
Generous in size, these scarves can be worn as elegant wraps, used as natural dyeing canvases, or kept in their beautiful earthy tones. They are especially lovely overdyed with natural colors such as indigo blue, lac red, madder, or soft tannin shades.
