The adhesive material on the back provides strong adhesion to most surfaces, with some common exceptions. Before you return it like I almost did...Out of the box it seems like the beginning ~10 lights and the ending ~10 lights don't light up. I only figured it out because both my orders had the same problem. It's a setting in the app. It makes no sense for them to ship it with just the middle lights on and the ends off, but they did. I changed the setting in the app and all lights lit up. I'm amazed at how nice these lights are for the price-point. Adhesive was fine, all lights work, ridiculous amount of settings and flexibility and customization.
